Min Chen is a Professor at Nanjing Normal University, Fellow of the American Association of Geographers. He serves as Vice President of the International Environmental Modelling and Software Society (iEMSs), Deputy Secretary-General of the Geographical Society of China, Executive Editor-in-Chief of Annals of GIS, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Environmental Modelling & Software and Information Geography. His research focuses on geographic modeling and simulation. he has developed OpenGMS, a web-based geographic simulator that has established international leadership for Chinese research teams in this field. He has published over 200 academic papers in prestigious journals including Nature Reviews Earth & Environment, Nature Climate Change, and Nature Geoscience. His research achievements have been recognized as Top 10 Research Advances by the Geographical Society of China  (2021:  Geographic Modeling and Simulation Software Platform; 2024: New Paradigms and Practices of Geographic Modeling in the era of Artificial Intelligence), Top 10 Scientific and Technological Advances by the China Society of Territorial Economists (2023: Simulation and Layout Optimization of Distributed Photovoltaic Potential in Chinese Cities; 2024: SDGs Synergy-Tradeoff Modeling and Future Pathway Simulation), and received the Special Prize of China Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award (2021: Key Technologies and Applications for Web-Based Sharing and Simulation of Geographic Analysis Models). He has been honored with the International Environmental Modelling and Software Society Biennial Award, Global Frontier Technology Young Scientist Award, Jiangsu Province Outstanding Contribution Award for Young Scientists and Technologists, and Jiangsu Province Top 10 Young Scientists in Science and Technology, among other recognitions.
