Dr. AlMomin is a distinguished Senior Research Scientist at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and was elected Vice President of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the Arab region in 2020 as recognized for her leadership and international contributions.

Dr. AlMomin is a prominent figure in advancing biotechnology for sustainable development. Her career is marked by a series of foundational achievements. She played a pivotal role in establishing Kuwait’s national biotechnology program and currently leads a major government initiative to create a National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, aiming to position Kuwait as a hub for scientific innovation. Her efforts were instrumental in affiliating KISR with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), where she serves as Kuwait’s Liaison Officer, strengthening global scientific ties.

A certified risk management professional, Dr. AlMomin’s expertise spans genetic engineering, biosafety, biodiversity, and molecular diagnostics. She has pioneered numerous research projects, introducing significant scientific innovations to Kuwait and the MENA region. As an active member of international bodies like the International Council for the Life Sciences and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Dr. AlMomin is a leading voice in promoting science and technology for the sustainable management of natural resources and global development goals.
