Professor Alexander Dunets is a professor from the Altai State University in Russia, a member of the Russian Geographical Society (Commission for Tourism Development) and a member of the Association of Russian Geographers-Social Scientists.

Dr. Dunets is working at the Department of Economic Geography and Cartography, Institute of Geography, Altai State University as a geographer and biologist by training. He received his PhD as Candidate of geographical sciences from Altai State University in 2003. His research topic is titled as Spatio-temporal organization of anthropogenic geosystems in the south of Western Siberia. He also received a scientific degree of Doctor of Geographical Sciences from St. Petersburg State University with scientific specialty of Economic and Recreational Geography in 2012. The topic of the study is as Tourist space of a mountain transboundary region: theory of organization and development.

Dr. Dunets interests in studies on spatial organization of the economy, territorial planning, resource management, tourism development in the structure of regional economies, and sustainable development of mountain regions. He has published over 200 articles in scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings, including 40 in the Scopus bibliographic database of scientific literature. He was a scientific supervisor in the field of designing foothill and mountain areas. His projects received support from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Russian Science Foundation.
