About iAONR

The International Association for Natural Resources (iAONR) is an international, non-profit professional academic organization dedicated to promoting sustainable management and research of natural resources. It was officially registered in Canada on March 1, 2025. The establishment of the association stems from a deep concern for global resource scarcity, ecological degradation, and climate change, with the aim of building a cross-border and interdisciplinary academic and practical platform to promote scientific management and sustainable utilization of natural resources. Its core concept of learning is to care for nature by improving resource utilization efficiency and ecological sustainability. Our vision is to create a world where natural resources are effectively protected and utilized in a rational manner; our mission is to ensure fair access to natural resources for future generations through scientific research, policy advocacy, and global cooperation. The core measures include promoting the specialization and popularization of natural resource science education, building cross-border communication platforms, developing management tools, sharing knowledge through conferences and publications, and promoting high-level applied research.

The iAONR has established an international organizational structure. The Academic and Advisory Committee is composed of academicians and experts from various countries, responsible for strategic guidance and quality control. The honorary chairmen are SUN Honglie, academician of the CAS Member, and Sommad PHOLSENA, vice chairman of the Lao National Assembly. The President is Academician M. Qasim Jan, former President of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, and the Executive President is Professor SHEN Lei of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The vice presidents cover all continents of the world, including the Director General of Moneef R. ZOU'BI in Jordan, the Dean of Akhylbek KURISHBAYEV in Kazakhstan, the Academician Sabah ALMOMIN in Kuwait, and the Academician Ewe Hong TAT in Malaysia. The Secretary General is Professor Alexandre DUNETS from Russia. The Executive Vice Chairman includes Academician CHEN Baobao, Professor HU Desheng, and Professor WANG Xiujun. Learn to promote academic exchange and capacity building through diversified activities, and regularly hold international natural resources and planning conferences to showcase the latest research results; Holding the Global Natural Resources and Spatial Planning Expo to showcase green transformation technologies; Establish awards such as the International Best Practice Award, Science and Technology Innovation Award, and Youth Excellent Paper Award; Organize cutting-edge technology seminars, such as focusing on blue carbon, AI prediction, etc; Conduct industry leadership roundtables to discuss ESG compliance; Provide certification training in remote sensing analysis, circular economy, etc; Organize academic holiday activities for undergraduate students; Provide policy briefs to decision-making bodies; Carry out scientific investigations and popularization of science; Supporting members to publish their results through six existing international collaborative journals.

The iAONR plans to establish 11 professional committees and 2 working committees, covering energy and mineral resources, water resources, land resources, grassland resources, agricultural resources, remote sensing GIS and AI, urban and regional planning, resource economy and management, resource recycling and environmental engineering, environmental protection and ecological restoration, resource policies and laws, as well as education committees and youth expert committees, to collaborate in addressing global sustainable development challenges.

Its members are open to the world: free for students, $10 for youth, $30 for individuals, and $100 for council members; Group members of universities and research institutes receive $200, while enterprises receive $300. Directors and executive directors receive $400/1000 and $600/2000, respectively.

The iAONR is actively promoting internationalization and striving to obtain consultative status with the UNESCO before 2027, in order to participate in UN conferences, submit statements, and enhance its voice. Currently, only 6494 NGOs worldwide hold this qualification. As a young and vibrant international academic organization, iAONR upholds the concept of caring for nature, intelligent utilization, and jointly building a sustainable future. It brings together scholars, policy makers, and practitioners from around the world to promote the progress of natural resource science and global cooperation. In the future, we will continue to expand our international network, enhance global governance participation, and contribute to building a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature as our home planet.

    The Academic and Advisory Committee (AAC) serves as a cornerstone of the association, ensuring academic rigor, strategic alignment, and global credibility. It drives innovation, upholds ethical standards, and enhances the association’s reputation through expert oversight and guidance.
  • Key Responsibilities
    1. Strategic Guidance: Advise on long-term goals, research priorities, and policy frameworks.
    2. Quality Assurance: Evaluate programs, publications, and initiatives to maintain excellence.
