Qiang XU

Professor Qiang XU received his Ph.D. in 1994 from Osaka University. He worked as Prime senior researcher in National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Adjunct professor of Kyoto University and Kobe University, and Director of AIST-Kyoto University Chemical Energy Materials Open Innovation Laboratory (ChEM-OIL) before moving to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) as Chair professor in 2020. His research interests include the chemistry of nanostructured materials and their applications, especially for catalysis and energy. He is on a number of editorial/advisory boards of journals, including EnergyChem (Editor-in-Chief), Coordination Chemistry Reviews (Associate Editor), Chem, Matter, Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Sustainable Systems, Chemistry-An Asian Journal, and so on. He received Thomson Reuters Research Front Award in 2012, Humboldt Research Award and Ichimura Prize for Earth and Environmental Sciences in 2019, and Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (JSCC) award in 2024. He was recognized a highly cited researcher (2014-2023) by Thomson Reuters/Clarivate Analytics and one among top 100 chemistry scientists (2022) by Research.com. He is Fellows of the Engineering Academy of Japan (EAJ), European Academy of Sciences (EURASC), and National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI).
