Dr Moneef R. Zou’bi is an internationally recognized consultant in the fields of Sustainable Development and Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) policies. Born in Amman, Jordan, he pursued his academic journey in Civil Engineering at Brighton and Loughborough Universities in the United Kingdom (1980-1988), before shifting his focus to global development issues and North-South scientific cooperation as a postgraduate researcher in the domain of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Malaya, Malaysia.

Currently, Dr Zou’bi serves as the Science Advisor to the Interaction Council (IAC), an independent international organization composed of former heads of state and statesmen from around the world. His prior leadership roles include Director General of the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS) in Jordan for 20 years, where he played a pivotal role in positioning the organization on the international STI landscape. He also holds adjunct professorships at UCSI University and the University of Malaya in Malaysia and has been a Council Member and Vice-President of the Arab Scientific Community Organization (ARSCO) in Qatar since 2024. He is also the Vice-President of the International Association of Natural Resources (iAONR) since 2025.

Aside from science advocacy, Dr Zou’bi has been actively involved in humanitarian causes, science diplomacy, and sustainable development, focusing on bridging scientific, technological, and political divides across cultures and nations. He has lectured in over 30 countries on topics including scientific collaboration, science education, sustainable development, and water issues from a Middle Eastern perspective. He is the author of over 90 articles and research papers and has co-edited 20 books on subjects such as higher education, environmental issues, and transformational technologies. Notably, he co-authored the UNESCO Science Reports in 2010, 2015, and 2020, with his 2010 chapter predicting the regional upheaval of the Arab Spring. Since, he has undertaken several missions for UNESCO and UN-ESCWA.

In addition to his professional work, Dr Zou’bi is a member of several prestigious organizations, including the UNESCO International Centre for South-South Cooperation in STI (Malaysia), the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS), and the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS), and the Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDW), Malaysia. He is a Founding Director of the World Sustainability Forum, based in Santa Fe, USA, and has served as a judge for the Templeton Prize, 2018-2021.

Dr Zou’bi’s work spans a broad range of sectors, from policy development to international collaboration, with a particular focus on advancing science and technology for sustainable development and global cooperation.
