CHAMPIONING SUSTAINABLE FUTURES

EMRC

Energy and Mineral Resources Committee (EMRC)

The Energy and Mineral Resources Committee focuses on the sustainable development, efficient utilization, strategic governance, and long-term security of energy and mineral resources. Its scope covers conventional energy, renewable energy, critical minerals, strategic metals, mining systems, resource supply chains, resource security, energy transition, and the environmental impacts associated with extraction, processing, transportation, and consumption. The Committee pays particular attention to the relationship between resource endowment, technological innovation, industrial transformation, and global sustainable development.

The mission of EMRC is to promote interdisciplinary research and international cooperation on energy and mineral resources, supporting the transition toward secure, low-carbon, efficient, and resilient resource systems. It seeks to integrate natural resource science, geology, mining engineering, energy economics, environmental governance, policy studies, and technological innovation into a coherent research and policy framework. The Committee aims to provide scientific evidence and professional recommendations for resource planning, energy security, mineral resource management, and sustainable industrial development.

The vision of EMRC is to become a leading international platform for academic exchange, policy dialogue, and collaborative research in the field of energy and mineral resources. It advocates a balanced approach that recognizes both the indispensable role of energy and minerals in economic development and the urgent need to reduce ecological pressure, carbon emissions, and unsustainable extraction practices. The Committee supports the development of cleaner energy systems, responsible mining, circular use of minerals, and diversified supply chains for critical resources.

The responsibilities of EMRC include organizing academic conferences, expert forums, technical workshops, and policy consultations; facilitating international research collaboration; promoting data sharing and methodological innovation; supporting young scholars and professionals; and contributing to standards, reports, and policy recommendations. It also encourages comparative studies across regions and countries, especially on resource security, energy transition pathways, mineral supply risks, and environmental governance. Through these activities, EMRC aims to strengthen the scientific foundation for responsible resource development and contribute to global sustainability, resource equity, and long-term energy and mineral security.
