How iAONR Activities Can Support Your P.Eng. Credentials
Background: The Core Requirement
In British Columbia, professional engineers (P.Eng.) are required to complete 60 Continuing Education (CE) Hours over a three-year rolling period to maintain their licensure with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
Annual Requirements:
- Minimum 1 hour of ethical learning
- Completion of the Mandatory Regulatory Learning Module
- Development of a Continuing Education Plan (CE Plan)
Reporting:
Activities must be recorded in the CE Reporting System, with an annual declaration submitted between May 1 and June 30 each year.

Formal Education
- University or college courses
- Professional certification programs
- Accredited seminars or workshops
- Relevant MOOCs (Coursera, edX, etc.)
Informal Education
- Webinars (live or recorded)
- Technical articles, journals, papers
- Industry podcasts or videos
- Internal knowledge-sharing
Professional Practice
- Applying new engineering standards
- Implementing new systems
- R&D or regulatory review
- New learning must be involved.
Participation
- Mentoring junior engineers
- Participating in committees
- Volunteering in a technical capacity
- Reviewing academic submissions
Publications
- Giving professional presentations
- Publishing peer-reviewed papers
- Teaching courses or training
Ethical Learning
- EGBC’s annual module
- Minimum 1 hour of ethics training
How iAONR Contributes to Your CE Hours
The International Association of Natural Resources (iAONR) is well-positioned to support you in meeting CE requirements. Here is how our activities align with recognized CE categories:
Do you need EGBC pre-approval?
No. EGBC does not require pre-approval of courses or events from providers like iAONR.
As long as the activity is relevant to your practice and fits a recognized category, it counts.
What iAONR Provides for You:
To ensure you can confidently claim your hours, we provide:
- Session title, description, and learning objectives
- Session duration (in hours)
- Speaker credentials
- Certificate of completion
Summary & Your Responsibility
While you don’t need EGBC approval for our courses, each engineer is personally responsible for determining if an activity is appropriate for their professional development and for recording it in the EGBC system.
