Jinkai LI

Jinkai Li is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Economics, Vice Chair of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Member of the Academic Committee at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). He also serves as Director of BIT’s Center for Green and Low-Carbon Development, and as a Research Fellow at the Center for Energy Economics and Sustainable Development at Peking University. He used to be the dean of School of Management Engineering and the dean of School of  Management at ZhenZhou University.

He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Xi’an Jiaotong University and completed postdoctoral research at the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University (2009–2015), and at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley (2011–2013). His research spans regional and industrial economics, resource economics and management,energy and environmental economics, and strategies for sustainable development.

Professor Li has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, including Nature Climate Change, Environmental Science & Technology, Applied Energy, Energy Policy, Economic Perspectives, and the Journal of Quantitative & Technological Economics. He has led nine national-level research projects, including a Major Project of the National Social Science Foundation (as Chief Expert), a Major Project of the National Soft Science Research Program, as well as grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Foundation. In addition, he has directed over 20 commissioned projects entrusted by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, and various provincial and ministerial authorities.

Professor Li has led a series of nationally and provincially funded initiatives in higher education, including projects under the National Education Science Planning Program, major provincial education reform programs, curriculum excellence initiatives, and the development of provincial-level practical teaching bases. His work has been recognized with the Second Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, multiple Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, and the Teaching Achievement Award of the Ministry of Education. As one of the first nationally selected scholars, he led the development of National First-Class Undergraduate Courses and National First-Class Undergraduate Programs, and his teaching cases were included in the National Graduate Teaching Case Repository.

Professor Li holds senior leadership positions in several major academic and professional organizations in China. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Energy and Environmental Management Branch of the Chinese Society of Management Science and Engineering, and as Deputy Director of the Committee on Smart Energy and Industrial Zero-Carbon Development under the China Energy Research Association. He also holds the position of Deputy Director of the Green Supply Chain Committee within the China National Resources Recycling Association (CRRA).

Professor Li has been honored with several prestigious national recognitions for his academic and scientific contributions. He has been selected as a Leading Talent in the National Ten Thousand Talents Program, a National-Level Talent in the Millions of Talents Project, and a National Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Expert with Significant Contributions. He was also awarded the title of New Century Excellent Talent by the Ministry of Education and is a recipient of the State Council Special Government Allowance
