Youth Professionals Committee (YPC)

The Youth Professionals Committee is designed to support the academic growth, professional development, international participation, and leadership capacity of young scholars, researchers, practitioners, and students in the field of natural resources. Its work covers youth engagement, academic training, career development, interdisciplinary collaboration, international exchange, mentorship, innovation support, and participation in the governance of the Society. The Committee recognizes young professionals as an essential force for the future development of resource science, environmental governance, and sustainable development practice.

The mission of YPC is to provide a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic platform for emerging professionals. It seeks to help young members develop research capacity, communication skills, professional networks, project experience, and leadership competence. The Committee encourages young professionals to participate actively in academic conferences, research programs, field studies, policy discussions, publications, and international cooperation.

The vision of YPC is to cultivate a new generation of globally minded, scientifically rigorous, socially responsible, and innovative professionals in natural resources. It supports young scholars and practitioners in addressing major resource and environmental challenges through interdisciplinary thinking, technological innovation, and cross-cultural collaboration. The Committee also aims to increase the visibility and influence of young professionals within the Society and the broader international academic community.

The responsibilities of YPC include organizing youth forums, training workshops, mentoring programs, academic competitions, early-career panels, networking events, and collaborative research activities. It may support young members in publishing research, applying for projects, participating in international conferences, and building professional partnerships. The Committee also serves as a communication bridge between young members and the Society’s leadership, helping to reflect the needs, ideas, and expectations of early-career professionals. Through these responsibilities, YPC aims to enhance youth participation, strengthen talent development, and ensure the long-term vitality and innovation capacity of the Society.
